DESCRIPTION: Under supervision of the site/school administrator, assists teachers with the instructional, behavioral and physical needs of individual students or groups of students with a variety of assets and abilities. Current position assignments are still to be determined. Mulitple positions available. Annually, depending upon the need and contractual language, positions may be re-assigned to a different PSD school; this is a school district position.

While performing the duties of this job, effective communication with students and staff is required. The employee is regularly required to stand and use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to regularly walk (occasionally on uneven surface), occasionally sit and reach with hands and arms (frequently reaching over the shoulder), stoop, kneel and crouch. With district approved training, the employee may be required to restrain a student and/or provide physical assistance for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

The employee may be required to lift, move and/or carry up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with assistance. The employee must possess sufficient strength and dexterity to lift or position students. The employee may be exposed to blood borne pathogens or bodily fluids.

CONTRACT:

 Part-time and Full-time positions anticipated (ranging from 4 to 7 hours/day) on all student contact days during the regular school year (in response to approved district calendar). Salary and benefits per the Classified negotiated agreement.
